Blood Studies

A collection of paintings created with blood—a visceral exploration of my relationship with my body and masculinity.

The coagulation of blood on canvas makes each piece alive, constantly reacting, giving biology an essential role in the creative process.

What does it mean to be male? What kind of man am I? What kind of man do I want to become? What do I do with my body? What meanings do I inscribe upon myself? What image do I want of my DNA, my blood?

The congealed blood creates depth and texture, shaping a narrative where the sublimation of male dominance in sex, cultural constructs of gender, and power dynamics serve as the foundation for this bodily inquiry.

Blood extraction is limited, and its rapid coagulation demands an urgent, instinctive act of painting - before it dries, before the image fades - capturing what resides within the body and insists on being seen.
